I always wanted to go to the beach ever since I was just a little, uncarved block of wood, and today – I finally had my chance!
The Ocata beach is about 30 minutes north of Barcelona on the Mediterranean Sea. Here the water often stays warm through the end of September. You can see the skyscrapers of Barcelona in the distance:
Did you know that the Mediterranean Sea has more than 3300 islands? And, two of those islands are their own independent nation: Cyprus and Malta. Another very interesting fact is that the Mediterranean touches three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa.
Many of the Barcelona locals prefer to go to a beach outside of the city because they are usually cleaner. There is a convenient suburban train that takes you from downtown up the coast. Many of the stops are only a short walk away from the beach, and there are lots of great restaurants nearby as well.
My favorite beach activity was riding the waves on my very, very mini body board. The beach is so much fun!
Have you ever been to a beach? What do you like to do there?
Your beach-happy friend,
