Hi friends,

The Duoro River in Porto at sunset as seen from the top of the Luis I Bridge is one of the most magnificent sights I have ever seen in my life. The sight inspired my friend, Julie to write a Haiku poem about it:

The River of Gold

by Julie Barshinger

The river of gold,

Glows in the tapering light

Of dusk and glory.

A soft, silent mist,

Mingles with the elusive,

Captivating waves.

Royal bridges crown

The untamed waters below

With gallant grandeur.

The river of old

Winds and curves along its path

To meet the great sea.

What is one of the most inpiring sights that you have ever seen? Can you think of some words to describe it?

Julie and I both hope that you will have the chance to see this sight in person one day. Its beauty truly touches the soul.

Your river-riveted friend,

Peter
