The beautiful Hungarian Parliament building is one of the most famous sites in Budapest. In Hungarian, it is called, “Az Országház.” Can you guess how many bricks it took to build this building?
The Parliament contains 40 million bricks, half a million precious stones and 88 pounds of gold. It took 100,000 workers 19 years (1885—1904) to finish the construction.
At night, the Parliament is all lit up. It is really beautiful!
If you go inside, you will find the Holy Crown of Hungary which was the coronation crown for the Hungarian kings of old. It has a slightly crooked cross on the top. You can find this crown in the Hungarian Coat of Arms as well.

Something really fun happened when I was taking a picture of the Hungarian Parliament. A boy from China came up to me and started talking to me. I think he was about 10 years old. He was so nice. He wanted to get a picture with me! I am meeting lots of great people here in Budapest.
Have you ever been to a building that you thought was interesting? If so, what was it and why did you like it? I would love to hear about it!
