Hi friends,

Today I was walking down Calle Huertas (Huertas Street) in Madrid, Spain, and to my surprise, I saw writing right there on the street below my feet! Above is an excerpt from writing by Jose Echegaray y Eizaguirre, a famous playwright, engineer, politician and mathematician from Spain. In English, it means…

“Beauty! At present, what it is, we do not know with a mathematic certainty; perhaps we will never know; but beauty is something that exists, that beats in nature, and that, like a wave breaks into foam on the shore…”

I also saw this one written on the side of a street wall. It is by Cervantes and says “El que lee mucho y anda mucho, ve mucho y sabe mucho,” or in English – “He who reads much and travels much, sees much and knows much.”

And the one above, I saw written on some street stairs. In English it means, “To include is not just to let someone in, it is to welcome them.”

Your poetry-loving friend,
